The Kentucky World Trade Center's Board of Directors held their quarterly meeting last week at the Governor's Mansion in Frankfort, where Board members discussed numerous issues about KWTC operations, including programs and events. Governor Steve Beshear and Secretary Larry Hayes also attended the meeting. Governor Beshear asserted that international trade is an important part of his economic development plan, and he praised the great work that the Board has done for Kentucky.

Special guest Robert J. Frueh, Chairman of the Quality & Standards Committee for the World Trade Center Association (WTCA), reported to the Board on the KWTC's services. KWTC is currently applying for WTCA certification, and Mr. Frueh spent a couple of days with KWTC staff to review its activities. He was very pleased with the KWTC's high-quality services and programs.

The KWTC is one of three hundred world trade centers in over one hundred countries, headquartered by the WTCA in New York City. KWTC members have access to many resources on their website at www.wtca.org.

KWTC participates in Alltech Global Conference

Alltech's recent Global Dairy 500 Conference welcomed to Kentucky over three hundred industry leaders from around the world. The event covered nutrition, milk branding, market trends, and other issues affecting members of the global dairy industry.

The Kentucky World Trade Center had a booth at the conference's "Kentucky Experience" exhibit. The dairy industry represents a chance for Kentucky to compete with the current "dairy capitals" of Idaho and Oklahoma: with 40,000 square miles of land but only 90,000 cows, there are a lot of untapped opportunities for dairy farmers.
