KWTC receives Mumbai delegation

wtd
Governor Martha Layne Collins, Aparup Sengupta, Richard Ferry, and Ying Juan Rogers gathered at last week's reception.

The Kentucky World Center recently received a delegation from Aegis Limited, a company based in Mumbai, India. This is resulted from the KWTC's trade mission to India this February. An Essar Group Enterprise, Aegis offers the benefits of the global delivery model, strong financial strength, deep domain expertise, comprehensive and flexible solutions offerings, and a rich international talent pool. Leveraging 32 global locations and a 32,000 strong talent pool, Aegis services more than 60 Fortune 1000 companies worldwide.

The group consisted of several company executives, including Aparup Sengupta, CEO of Aegis Limited, and Richard Ferry, President & CEO of Aegis Communications. Their recent visit was the result of the KWTC's trade mission to India, in February 2009. During the trip to the US, Aegis visited Louisville, Richmond, Frankfort and Lexington. They are looking for business opportunities between India and Kentucky.

Applications now accepted for GAITE awards

The Kentucky World Trade Center invites your company to apply for the 2009 Governor's Award for International Trade Excellence.

The Kentucky World Trade Center’s GAITE award is the first international trade award given by the Governor of Kentucky. Formerly known as the World Trade Success award, this prestigious honor recognizes Kentucky companies successfully engaged in international trade.  The Awards Committee is made up of KWTC staff and various representatives from the business community who work to identify the very best international trade success stories to be spotlighted at an annual awards luncheon.

Each year over 400 representatives from business, industry and government sectors gather to recognize firms for outstanding achievements in international trade at the World Trade Day Awards Luncheon.  Organized by the Kentucky World Trade Center, the luncheon has become the Commonwealth’s largest annual gathering of international trade professionals.  This year’s program will be held on September 4, 2009 at the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville, and will also include a delegation of foreign dignitaries assembled to speak to attendees about doing business with their respective countries.

Recent winners include LINAK, TubeMaster, Northern Kentucky University and Wild Flavors. (Click here for full list.) This year’s winners will be recognized and celebrated for their outstanding international trade achievements, and will be presented with trophies at the awards luncheon.

We will have an honored keynote speaker at the luncheon, and Governor Beshear has been invited to deliver an address regarding the State of World Trade in Kentucky.

There are no fees or obligations associated with selection as an award recipient.  We ask only that the winning companies plan to have a representative attend the awards luncheon on September 4, 2009, that they agree to allow media coverage of their summarized success stories, and that they attend the press conference taking place before the luncheon program.
